COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING (CBT)
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was introduced on the Isle of Man in September 2003.
Mine is the only training school on the Island to have been operating prior to that date, therefore I am the MOST EXPERIENCED IN CONDUCTING CBTS
It is a compulsory course that must be taken prior to having bike lessons towards passing your test and to ride on the road unsupervised if you have your own machine.
You must be able to show a certain level of machine knowledge and control, highway code knowledge and road awareness to pass.
There is no set time limit as to how long the CBT takes to complete; the session may require more time depending on previous riding experience (if applicable).
I can supply a bike at no extra cost, however I do expect you to have your own
equipment, including helmet, gloves, ankle boots and jacket. As safety is of paramount importance it is advisable that you purchase a good fitting helmet.
PLEASE NOTE, IF NEEDED I CAN PROVIDE A HELMET,.Rain suits are provided for bad weather conditions at no extra charge.
You can use your own bike/scooter if you wish..I also offer a pick-up service for your machine.
Please ensure you have all necessary insurance documents etc, L-plates front and rear and a full tank of fuel (and 2-stroke oil if applicable). i will also need to see both parts of your Provisional/Full driving licence. Or if one of the more recent licences, only the single, plastic card. A U.K LICENCE IS NOT VALID HERE ON THE ISLE OF MAN TO UNDERTAKE LESSONS, CBT, THE PROVISIONAL ENTITLEMENT IS ONLY VALID IN THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.
CBT training is held at Port Soderick, about 3/4 mile from the end of Marine Drive, look for a fenced off area with my blue container/office
Please note that a CBT certificate is valid for 2 years.
(I also provide a pick up service for your own bike/scooter)
I AM THE ONLY TRAINING SCHOOL ON THE ISLAND TO HAVE BEEN CONDUCTING CBTS FROM DAY ONE, I AM THE MOST EXPERIENCED MOTORCYCLE INSTRUCTOR ON THE ISLE OF MAN
PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU HAVE NEVER RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE PREVIOUSLY, IN THE INTERESTS OF YOUR SAFETY, I ALWAYS ADVISE A TASTER GIVE-IT-A-GO SESSION(S) TO COVER THE BASICS
